Participation normally needs an aggregator or route-to-market provider, compliant controls, metering and successful prequalification.

Why frequency changes

When generation and demand move out of balance, system frequency moves away from its 50 Hz target. Response services ask assets to increase or reduce power automatically to help contain and correct that movement.

Dynamic Containment

NESO's post-fault service acts rapidly after a larger frequency event. Batteries may be well suited because they can respond in fractions of a second, subject to technical compliance and available headroom.

Dynamic Moderation and Dynamic Regulation

Dynamic Moderation is designed for faster pre-fault support during volatile periods. Dynamic Regulation provides steadier pre-fault control around normal operating conditions. A provider must decide which service fits the asset and current procurement.

Commercial reality

Service volumes, cleared prices and eligibility change. The optimiser must reserve enough charge and discharge headroom, manage state of charge and avoid conflicts with site operations or other contracted services.
