Understanding Agile prices

What is Agile Octopus?

Agile is a dynamic import tariff with a different unit price for each half hour. It follows wholesale market conditions. The rates shown here include VAT; standing charges and other terms are separate.

Why do rates change and vary by region?

Octopus publishes half-hourly prices based on changing wholesale costs and regional electricity network pricing. Select your own region to see the relevant tariff rather than a UK-wide average.

How does Agile Outgoing export work?

Agile Outgoing is a separate export tariff. Its half-hourly rate is a payment for eligible metered electricity sent to the grid. Eligibility, import pairing and treatment of energy stored in a battery depend on Octopus terms; the import and export rates shown here do not confirm a customer can join both.

When do tomorrow’s prices appear?

Octopus usually releases the following day’s prices in the afternoon. Publication time can vary. This page checks periodically and only shows actual published periods.

Using a home battery

A battery can charge in cheaper windows and reduce grid imports in dearer windows, subject to its power, capacity, efficiency and your supplier’s terms. Negative prices mean the unit rate is below zero for that half hour; savings still depend on actual metered consumption and other charges.

These windows are tariff information, not a charging instruction or financial advice. Check your own tariff, battery limits and any export restrictions before changing a schedule.
