Battery tariff option
EDF Empower belongs in a home battery comparison as a tariff option. Its published charging discounts should be considered separately from any software that controls your battery.
Available · tariff and purchase conditionsEDF offers Empower Fixed for homes with solar and/or a battery, while the Exclusive route depends on a qualifying equipment purchase through EDF. Published offers include an overnight battery-charging discount; check the quoted unit rates and conditions for your property.
The solar tariff page does not establish a universal remote-control integration for third-party batteries. Confirm who sets the charging schedule and whether your chosen optimiser is permitted. A discounted import window alone does not automate your inverter.
EDF's joining guidance requires a smart meter configured for half-hourly readings and an EDF account. Existing equipment and new EDF purchases follow different enrolment routes. Export payments also have their own eligibility conditions.
Use your actual charging window, usable battery capacity and daytime demand to assess the discount. Include standing charges and export income, and separate a new installation offer from the cost of running equipment you already own. Do not treat a promotional zero-bill example as a household guarantee.
