How the battery plan works

PredBat combines electricity prices, expected solar generation, household demand and battery limits to plan charging and discharging. Its forecasts and charts help you compare expected behaviour with what actually happened.

Self-hosted PredBat

The original project runs with Home Assistant and documents local or cloud integrations for multiple inverter families. Its licence permits personal use at no software charge, without a warranty. You remain responsible for the host, configuration, updates and troubleshooting.

PredBat Cloud

The managed cloud offering does not require Home Assistant. It currently lists GivEnergy, Fox ESS, SolaX and Solis, and advertises a 30-day trial. Check its own subscription terms and exact model support; do not transfer the self-hosted project's full compatibility list to the cloud service.

Choose the route you can maintain

If you enjoy reviewing forecasts and adjusting settings, self-hosting may suit you. If you want someone else to operate the platform, evaluate the managed service. For either route, record a baseline bill, protect your reserve and check which controller takes priority during any flexibility event.
